Why we love October.

Image
How are we already in October, last time i looked we was just beginning summer. We do love October though, the leaves changing colour and falling making a crispy path way for you, the cosy evenings snuggled under a fluffy blanket. Most of all we love Halloween, this is our first Halloween in Cornwall. We are looking forward to making our house all spooky, and i think a trip to B&M is on the books for that one.  We've always loved dressing up and the kids get so excited sorting out there outfits, we are not really sure if there are any events going on around us, but we have just discovered the perfect place to go pumpkin picking which is not open for a few weeks but we can't wait to go! Another great thing we love to do as a family, spending hour's walking around the pumpkin patch finding the perfect pumpkins, playing around with the wheelbarrows. Then coming home and deciding how to carve them! I also like to do a few Halloween themed dinners for the ki...

One big competition.

Image
Most of the time i just try to wing my way through life like every bloody day and being a parent there's no handbooks to guide you in the right direction, because there is no right and wrong, I just try to bring my three humans up as best as i can, to be kind, caring, respectful, peaceful humans in a crazy world just trying to get through!  Don't you feel though that sometimes it all seems like one big competition? Like who has the cleanest house, who has the biggest following, who's been to the best places, who drive the best car and so on... Don't get me wrong i'd love a larger following on Instagram but hey ho, maybe one day. I think its to easy to copy other people, just because there telling you how "perfect" there life is and all that crap doesn't mean its real! Bloody hell i mean i try to keep on top of the washing, the cleaning but lets face it i'm never going to live in a spotless house, and i can't afford the latest mobil...

Not just a mum.

Image
Becoming a parent, is such a wonderful thing and by god i feel so grateful to be able to have three beautiful healthy children, but along with loving them comes something else. Its almost as those people forget you, and who you are, i'm not just a mum, i'm still me! I still enjoy things that i did before i had kids ( minus crazy nights out ) but why is it when you have children you loose  friends because now you have kids they don't see you in the same light? We may have changed in some ways, but underneath the dirty clothes, washing piles, pack lunch boxes we are still there. Being a parent does come first but, we still have needs and wants in life. Before i had kids i always wanted to be a holiday rep i never fulfilled that dream, as well a becoming a chef which never happened but to my kids i'm the best cook! Sometimes i feel i'm suck in that mum zone 24/7 with my eldest being 10 in January we've not spent much time as just a couple either, which i...

Tintagel Castle...

Image
Tintagel Castle.... One of my favourite pictures i took while at Tintagel Typical the day we decided to head to Tintagle it was an absolute scorcher! literally the path's started going soft it was that hot, even in the car we was dripping with sweat. It had been somewhere we had wanted to visit for a while so despite melting off we went. The history behind Tintagel has a lot of mythical history connected to it, Merlin's cave and in town a lot of places are connected with Merlin. Of course the actual history behind the castle is interesting. Sweating we managed to walk up to the top of what felt like a million steps with a hot sweaty five year old and Charlie, the views at the top well absolutely breath taking! A place i could have sat and just watched the waves for hours!!   I'm no professi...

Exploring Bude beach...

Image
Exploring Bude Beach.... A place we had never been to in Cornwall until we moved, our usual areas where Hayle, St ives. Living up the top part of Cornwall has now opened a world to explore. . . With a beautiful beach, canal, sweet little shops and some lovely places to grab a drink or have some food it was certainty somewhere we wanted to visit. After what seemed like a life time trying to just get the kids in the car, we finally arrived and what a place. . . We took a walk down to the beach passing the canal where you can hire row boats and  pedalos, the boat restaurant which always seems to be busy, the kids love the beach as i'm sure do most. So off they went running towards the sea, what they didn't know is that me and mark had been there once before when we came to view this house. . . We stopped them in there tracks to show them the sea pool! this is fantastic i think a safer place for children to play, small children and non swimmers, of cour...

Foodie Family

Image
Foodie Family, yep that's us!  We love trying out new foods, if it means going out to eat in a new restaurant, cafe or sandwich bar, or being indoors and cooking together as a family, my kids have always enjoyed helping me in the kitchen it something we all enjoy. . . Sometimes feeding the kids can be tricky my eldest son Charlie can be a fussy bugger, but the other two well you know what they would eat bloody anything, so sometimes i find my self in a pile of different pots and pans food all over the counter smoke alarms going off in the manic time that is dinner. . . So we are looking for FOOD INSPIRATION we need help to stop cooking the same dinners night in and out, we want to try different things spice up dinner times a bit, because at the moment we are in a bit of a food rut!  . . Family friendly meals, but also meals that just me and mark can enjoy once the kids are in bed. Em x    Charlie enjoying his fish and chips Rick steins sa...

Why we decided to move 300 miles.

Image
Our 300 mile Move.... Life as a parent can be scary, when we was living in Kent we lived in a two bed flat with five of us. We did the same old day in day out, life was passing us by and being completely honest i worried about the kids getting older and letting them have freedom. We knew things had to change for us all, we decided Cornwall was the way forward for us and our little family, after many "family meetings" and discussions with the kids we all wanted to move. . . . Down here our children have freedom, more space then we could have wished for and for us as parents there's less worry, life seems and feels so different not so worrying and daunting, of course no matter what age we will always worry about our kids but we all feel safer. . . So as parents we know we made the right choice no matter what people say, we did it for us and for our children to live a life of fresh air and freedom. Sometimes you have to follow your dreams because they lead y...
